Since then, yoga has influenced my decisions, my fulfilment in life, my ambitions and my lifestyle. My day feels more complete and satisfying when there is yoga. I feel happier, smile more and enjoy moments more than I used to. I still get annoyed, upset & frustrated with life. Now I just have ways to try and gain perspective and find contentment in the present moment.
My initial training in 2006 and more recently in 2010 in Rishikesh (India) with World Conscious Yoga Family has consolidated my knowledge and motivation. The Akhanda style of yoga that they teach is holistic in nature, embracing diverse aspects of the yoga tradition. I teach with their love and inspiration. Having completed my 500 hour yoga teacher training in 2010, the ashram experience immersed me once again in the yogic way of life, refreshing and re-inspiring my love and understanding of yoga. I am qualified to teach Akhanda (holistic) yoga, prenatal, restorative, Hatha-Raja and Classical Kundalini.
I am currently training as a yoga therapist with Yoga for the Mind. The training focuses on mental health care, and I will be able to cater more specifically for people with stress, anxiety and depression. The affect of yoga on our minds is something I find to be increasingly interesting - and important - for our lives.
I have been inspired by teachers of many styles including Sivananda, Iyengar & Ashtanga Vinyasa. (See ‘about yoga’) My own practice & teaching often draws on Ayurvedic principles – recognising that each person and each day is different and requires a different attitude. I encourage a playful approach to yoga, as well as a sense of humour.
I love to dance (especially with toddlers at Norfolk Dance) I love to move. Current trends include swing dancing and hula hooping. I inspire myself by travelling to places that challenge me. I like wine. I love laughing too.
